Eva Green was left “humiliated” by issuing text messages of her own.
The “Penny Dreadful” star has been embroiled in a lawsuit over the collapse of the 2019 sci-fi thriller “A Patriot” due to a lack of funding and a stunning row with financial backers. Yahoo! News.
In the legal skirmish, which was held in the British High Court, Green’s WhatsApp messages were presented as evidence. In the texts, she allegedly referred to the crew members as “sh-ty peasants”, the producer as “the devil”, called the film director “weak and stupid”, called the project a “B-sh-ty-movie” and even described herself as a ” Cruella”.
On Tuesday, the 42-year-old actress was quizzed about a particular message in which she called the movie an “f-king’s nightmare” and told a colleague, “We had to get out.”
Green has vehemently denied sabotaging or abandoning production.
She is reported to have said on the witness stand: “I have a very direct way of saying things.” “I did not expect that my WhatsApp messages would be exposed in court. It is indeed very insulting.”
Elsewhere in the letters, Green allegedly discussed buying the rights to and making the script with her crew. She denied lying about her intention to “get out” of the movie by comparing her comments to comments made by her “Casino Royale” co-star Daniel Craig, who Notorious said in 2015 He would rather “break this glass and slit my wrist” than shoot another James Bond movie.

Green told the court, “Sometimes you say things that you don’t mean. You hate someone, you say, ‘I’m going to kill that person.’ Are you going to kill that person? No, it’s a cry from the heart.”
She added, “There is a famous example of Daniel Craig saying he would rather ‘slash my wrists’ than do another Bond film.”
“He honored his contract, did another Bond movie, and didn’t cut his wrists. Sometimes you say things under a lot of pressure, and it just shows.”
Green denied that she was imitating her agent, Charles Collier, who also quoted Craig’s line.
She replied, “I know this story very well because I know Daniel.”
Earlier on the stand, Green denied that she wanted the film’s “messy” production to fall apart so she could have a chance to take control of it.
The French-born actress insisted she did nothing to “make the movie fail”.
“I feel like they failed on their own, because of their own incompetence. Nothing was ready. Nothing was in place. It was a charade,” Green said.
When asked about a letter in which she allegedly stated, “I can’t make this movie with (the financiers) Sherburne. Impossible,” Green said, “Those are emotional words, I felt so trapped at the time, it just didn’t make sense that the movie was going to happen.” I just felt trapped.
“It does not mean that I will not honor my contract,” she explained. “If I had been asked to prepare, I would have done this movie, even though it would be a disaster.”
“I never broke a contract, I had to.”
Green White Lantern and the financiers are suing SMC Specialty Finance LLC to recover a $1 million “pay or play” contract.
The companies resist “conspiracy, deception, and unlawful interference” and claim that Green deliberately undermined the production, causing it to collapse so that she could pounce on the program and buy the script for herself.
