US News & World Report releases its 2023 best college rankings.
Georgia Institute of Technology continues to rank among the best public universities in the country, and its programs remain among the best in the country, according to 2023.US News & World ReportRankings of the best colleges. *
In the latest report, released on September 12, for the fifth year in a row, all 10 of Georgia Tech’s engineering programs were placed in the top five in the nation, with seven of those programs ranking first or second in their specialty. Georgia Tech is also ranked 5th overall in Best Undergraduate Computer Science Programs. More than 66% of undergraduate students at Georgia Tech are enrolled in engineering or computing. Georgia Tech is also ranked among the top 20 undergraduate business programs in the country.
Overall, Georgia Tech ranks 15th in the Best Public University category. Georgia Tech is ranked #44 among both public and private universities, sharing the same spot with Brandeis University, Case Western Reserve University, Northeastern University, and Tulane University. Among the most innovative universities in the country, Georgia Tech is ranked 8th. In other categories highlighting academic excellence, Georgia Tech ranked No. 5 for Internship/Cooperative Training Programs, and moved up to No. 16 for Graduate Graduation Projects.
“We are proud to see our programs in engineering, computing, and other disciplines among the best in the country,” said Angel Cabrera, president of Georgia Tech. “We also appreciate being listed again among the top public universities in the country, even if this year we showed five ranks lower than last. Our successful efforts to serve more students and cut costs are hurting us in these rankings, which is unfortunate. At the same time, the rankings rightly indicate To our need to do better in terms of social mobility. We have one of the best graduation rates in the country for Pell students, but we serve far fewer Pell students than we should, and we need to keep working to change that.”
Digging deeper into the numbers for the College of Computing, four of Tech’s computer science programs are ranked in the top 5 in the country, with game development at number three and cybersecurity at number four. Georgia Tech’s Artificial Intelligence Program ranks sixth. among national universities. At number five in the computer science ranking, Georgia Tech is associated with Cornell University, Princeton University, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
In maintaining the overall No. 4 ranking for the best undergraduate engineering programs, two Tech schools took first place. The Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering took first place for the first time, and the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering received this recognition for the 28th consecutive year.
The Schiller School of Business ranks as the 19th best undergraduate business program, tied with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and the University of Washington. Three of Schiller’s business programs are ranked in the top five, with quantitative analysis in fourth and both business analytics and management information systems in third.
Georgia Tech’s ranking also rose for best college education, moving from 58th to 41st.
