Neighbors of Pamela Colbert found her missing dog, a 12-year-old Australian Shepherd, fully lashed down the road from her home, which is several miles from the scene of the off-campus murders.
Colbert, 78, told Fox News Digital that she recalled in a Latta County Sheriff’s Office supervisor telling her, “This was not done by an animal. This was a human who did it.”
Some locals feared the horrific incidents might be related, however law enforcement I dispelled those rumors on Monday.
“Detectives are aware of the incident of the Lata District Sheriff’s Office reporting a boiled dog, and they have decided that it has nothing to do with this incident,” the Moscow Police Department said in a short update on Monday evening.
Her neighbor, Clint Hughes, has a fluffy Bernese Mountain dog named Max, who tore up his bed the same day the Colbert dog was found dead near their property in an area near a shed with overgrown weeds.
“You can tell it wasn’t an animal that did it,” he explained, adding that “it was obviously done with a knife.”
The last murder was in Moscow in 2015. The entire community has been on alert for a week because the police have no suspects and no weapon recovered more than a week after the tragedy.
The FBI, Idaho State Police and the Moscow Police Department are investigating the November 13 killing of Kylie Goncalves, 21, Madison Muggin, Ethan Chapin, 20, and Zana Kernodel, 20, just blocks from the University of Idaho campus.
The Four students They returned to their home around 1:45 a.m. and were killed sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m., according to police.
Someone called 911 from one of the two surviving roommates’ phones shortly before noon to report an unconscious person. The police then located the victims and issued an alert to the University of Idaho students.
On Monday, investigators expanded the crime scene to include a parking lot and a wooded area behind the home.
The Moscow Police Department also said that a detached dog was found in the house on the day of the murder and had been handed over to a “responsible party”.
