Shane Lowry He says that money thrown into golf is “utterly disgusting” and she fears it will turn fans away from the game.
The Irishman, speaking to No lying down Podcast, he revealed he doesn’t even know how much he won fending off challenges from the likes of Rory McIlroy and John Ram Win the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last week. He feels that top golfers need to focus on what is “good for golf, not what’s right for us” despite the temptation of the massive sums being collected by LIV Golf.
“If you play the game for money, you should probably go there [to LIV]Laurie said No lying down. “If you play a game for trophies, you shouldn’t. I’ve always said I don’t play the game for money, I’ve never done it. I feel like that’s why I didn’t even enjoy it to be honest.
“When I looked at the trophy at Wentworth and saw the names on the trophy, it was who the European golfer was. It’s unbelievable that my name goes on, I don’t care how much money I won. When I had a few drinks on Sunday night someone asked me ‘How much of The money I won today?” And honestly I have no idea. They didn’t believe me but I had no idea. I had to go to a text from the European Tour to check how much I won.

The 2019 Open champion knows that to compete with entities like the NBA and NFL, golf must remain popular with US companies, but as the game becomes more money-oriented, there is a risk of alienating fans.
“What LIV did was cause a split in the game that would turn people away, and people would stop watching,” the 35-year-old said. No lying down. “I think the sums of money being thrown out are disgusting at the moment.
“So I feel like all the people talking about is money now. Watching the Tour Championship, all the commentators kept talking about how much money they were going to win, I was like ‘Are you just going to talk about the cup or the title’ or how many times Tiger has won it. I think. It’s just disgusting amounts of money.
“General Joe Swap, who makes 50k a year, has to struggle to pay his membership fee, and that’s probably more than anyone else. That’s the wrong thing to do. I’m lucky to have the life that I have, it’s not my God’s right Being a part of something that will bury those rides. It’s just up to me to keep my place there and pass it on to someone else when it’s time to sail into sunset.”
Lowry played for the Saudi International for three years on the DP World Tour but now feels he may have “misjudged the room”.
“It would be very hypocritical to me if I said that [the reason I was against LIV] It was because of the money source.” “Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, they are all next to each other, I will play them at the beginning of the year and go back to America.
