Reddit user from New York Others online asserted that although his exercise habits were unusual, he was not rude to anyone else for using the treadmill in his apartment building gym for four hours a day.
More than 2,000 people responded to his query on Reddit – and he shared his thoughts with Fox News Digital on the issue as well.
“AITA to use the treadmill at my gym for 4 hours?” Reddit user “Pr1mrose” asked on Jan. 27 on a subreddit known as “Am I the A*****e” (AITA).
“I Use a treadmill For 4 hours a day (light jog, it’s not like you’re Usain Boulting for too long) from 6am to 10am,” the man explained.

“During this time the gym was almost empty from 6-7:45am and again from 8:30-10am,” he wrote.
The user indicated that the building has it Small gym for residents Equipped with four treadmills, three bikes, three stair/elliptical machines, as well as a weight training area. He said the gym is open daily until 10pm.

Rarely do all four treadmills run simultaneously, Pr1mrose said — adding that it’s “maybe 15 minutes each day.”
He also wrote, “I took a test today and for the whole four hours there was at least one treadmill free, and I was alone for more than three hours of running. There are a lot of days [when] Capacity is never reached, and the days it is, it’s a very limited amount of time.”
The man was told that the new rule “comes from management”.
However, building management decided there should be a 45-minute max usage period for the cardio machines — and sent an email to all building residents.

“I’m 99% sure it’s targeting me, because this morning about three hours later, a lady (I believe the assistant building manager) informed him of ‘the rule,'” he wrote — “tapping my shoulder.”
At the time, the other three mills were empty – and Pr1mrose was told the rule “comes from management”.

The doorman came later and told him there was a 45 minute limit for cardio machines.
Pr1mrose writes that this rule is not printed anywhere in the gym and that it was not the previous policy.
“I really don’t get it, but, reddit, am I missing something that I’m actually addicted to?” asked the other user.

On the AITA subreddit, Redditors can respond to posts saying the label is “NTA” (“Not A *****e”), “YTA” (“You’re A *****e”), “NAH” ( “No A*****e Here”) or “ESH” (“Everybody Sucks Here”).
“I can’t run more than 4 hours a day. Are you okay?”
Users can ‘up vote’ for responses they think are helpful and ‘down vote’ for responses that aren’t.
Most of the Reddit users who responded to the post said they thought Pr1mrose is an “NTA”.

Reddit user “Thediciplematt” wrote “NTA” in the top voted comment.
“If it’s the only one? Sure, but there are four, and I doubt anyone else has been running around for hours,” the person wrote.
“Thediciplematt” also suggested that Pr1mrose switch out the treadmill every 45 minutes — and “tell them you’re maliciously observant.”

Another user suggested that Pr1mrose take a break if the other three treadmills become occupied after 45 minutes of running.
“Four hours is a long time for a workout… I’m not sure that’s a healthy behavior…”
Reddit user wrote “Pepper-90210.”

In follow-up posts, Pr1mrose makes it clear that it is A former heavy drinker And that he uses the time spent on the treadmill to listen to podcasts and music — and to “spend time with myself and reflect on my life.”
He added that his exercise habit “isn’t a compulsion – it’s a hobby that I enjoy a lot”.

The Reddit user defended his workout routine, saying he uses his four hours a day on the treadmill for self-reflection and listening to podcasts.

He also noted that he usually runs outside — but since he lives in New York City, he doesn’t want to run in the cold or risk slipping on the ice.
“I fully agree and accept that on the very rare occasion that all four treadmills are used, I will relent in the event that people get to them, see them all in use, and then leave,” he wrote.
“I don’t have a problem with that — my problem is being told to stop even when I’m the only person there.”
“For now, I plan to do my normal routine tomorrow morning and see if I get to face again.”
Pr1mrose said he would email his apartment management to ask why the policy was in place.

“I’m not trying to be confrontational, I literally don’t understand the rule,” he said.
“I don’t claim to be above that, but I don’t think it takes much to be told ‘why’ when I live here [for] Over a year and I’ve used the gym that way for that whole time – and I’m not forbidding anyone else to use it.”

Pr1mrose told Fox News Digital in an online response to a question that he was surprised by the number of responses his post received — and that he has yet to hear directly from management.
“For the time being, I plan to do my normal routine tomorrow morning and see if I come up again,” he told Fox News Digital.
