Bloody Disgusting revealed quite a bit of time to end the week, and you know it Sean S. Cunningham (Friday the 13th) does not work just to get his own Friday the 13th The reboot is off the ground, but he’s also developing a reboot of a 1985 horror movie he made, a house. In addition, Cunningham is producing an original movie titled night driverWork alongside the writer Jeff Locker And the director Jeremy Weiss on various upcoming projects.
Of course, hunting with all things Friday the 13th Is that the franchise has until recently been mired in legal issues, with original screenwriter Victor Miller now joining Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal”) and A24 in a pre-Peacock franchise. This project is entitledcrystal lake,Jeff Locker explains how a separate project could end up working.
Locker explains, “Sean hired me to rewrite night driver And after working so closely with and with director Jeremy Weiss for that matter, it was only natural for us to talk about it Friday the 13th And a house. Jeremy and I are pitching our dream reboot Friday the 13th — with Sean’s blessing to continue her development with him. “
Locker continues, “It’s clear that the TV prequel series has reignited interest in a new movie Hopefully the excitement surrounding will inspire both sides to come together and give us Jason on the big screen again for the first time in 14 years. But We also have a Plan B sequel to the original which we think fans will absolutely love and should avoid any legal entanglements.. “

Then there night driver, an original project that will be directed by Jeremy Weiss. Chatting with Weiss, we were able to reveal a little bit about this upcoming movie, too.
“night driver is a movie about a daily salesman who regularly drives across the country selling pharmaceuticals,” comments Jeremy Weiss on Bloody Disgusting. “One night on a back road, he encounters a madman who appears to be following him, leaving a trail of corpses in his wake. All he wants is to make a living at home for his family at any cost; By the time he realizes he has either fled in terror or has been tracked home.”
Weiss continues, “This movie was a true labor of love, and it took about ten years to get to this point where things started moving really quickly. One of the things that originally drew me to the project is that it’s a horror movie that has similar sensibilities with some of the best movies I’ve grown up watching and loving, including Friday the 13th. Having Sean Cunningham return to the producer’s chair for this project feels like a dream come true. I had his movie posters on my wall. So being here after so many years with him in production is a very surreal experience.
“John CorkThe original screenplay was really compelling and captivating, though Sean brought a lot of his ideas to the table. Early on, he recommended a great writer named Jeff Locker to do some work on the script, and he and I really did it well. What resulted from the collaborative efforts on the part of all three of us is a very tight, intense, suspenseful script that really has a strong sound of its own. We are currently finalizing the casting process with some great actors and have already started pre-production for shooting in late spring/early summer. “
Weiss also touched on Friday the 13th And a house projects.
“Works on night driver With Sean and Jeff this was a great experience, by the time the momentum started picking up we were looking for projects that could be next in line. As a person obsessed with horror, Friday the 13th And a house They were naturally where I wanted to head next,” he tells us. “Not only did Jeff feel the same, he had very similar ideas about where to get both franchises.”
Stay tuned for more Friday the 13thAnd a houseAnd night driver As we learn it.
